Limescale buildup has reached a critical level. The appliance locks all steam-based operating modes. For BS470-485 models, descaling uses descaling cartridges (not tablets).
Caution: Use only Gaggenau descaling cartridges (CL S20 040, order #00311768). Do not reuse cartridges. Do not use descaling tablets intended for other Gaggenau models.
🔧 How to Fix
- Set the function selector to S (settings).
- Select the descaling programme with the rotary selector and confirm.
- Remove all accessories from the oven interior.
- Remove the locking cap from a descaling cartridge (CL S20 040, order #00311768).
- Screw the cartridge into the socket at the top of the cooking compartment.
- Close the door, confirm, and press Start.
- The programme takes approximately 2 hours 15 minutes.
- After completion, remove the cartridge. Clean and reinsert the drain filter.
- Delete the descaling message: navigate to Settings > "Delete the descaling hint".
