No crema on coffee or espresso

⚠ What This Means

There is no crema (foam layer) on the coffee or espresso. The coffee beans are no longer fresh. If roasted coffee beans are stored open for too long, the CO2 gradually escapes and the crema is no longer formed during dispensing. The beans can still be used.

🔧 How to Fix

  1. Use freshly roasted coffee beans.
  2. Store beans in an airtight container.
  3. Note: the beans are still safe to use, they just won't produce crema.
