SYMPTOM

There is no ice

Appliance: Sub-Zero Built-In (600 Series) Models: 601R, 601RG, 601F, 611, 611G, 642, 650, 650G, 661, 632, 685, 695

What This Means

The ice maker is not producing ice. The ice bucket is empty or ice production has stopped.

🔧 How to Fix

  1. Verify the ice maker is turned on: press ICE ON/OFF key pad and confirm the ICE indicator is illuminated in the Control Center display panel.
  2. Check if SERVICE and ICE are both flashing in the display panel -- this indicates a solenoid valve issue (see SERVICE + ICE flashing entry).
  3. Verify that the ice bucket is properly positioned in the freezer. On models 601F, 611, 611G, 650, 650G, 661, 642, 685, 632, and 695, the ice maker shuts off if the bucket is not in place.
  4. Ensure the water supply is connected and turned on.
  5. Check that water pressure is between 20 and 100 psi. A reverse osmosis filter system may not maintain minimum pressure.
  6. For models 685 and 695 with ice dispenser: ensure the ice bucket is engaging the auger motor at the back. Push on the ice bucket and press the ICE key pad on the glasswell simultaneously.
  7. For models 685 and 695: ensure the freezer utility rack is properly installed, as it affects ice bucket positioning.
  8. If using the ice dispenser (685/695): press the ICE key pad on the glasswell. If you do not hear auger motor noise, wait five minutes and try again. If no auger noise after the second try, call your Sub-Zero authorized service center.

Frequently Asked Questions

My ice maker isn't producing very much ice.

On average, you can expect a cycle of ice (eight cubes per cycle) every two hours. Timing varies depending on load conditions, door openings, and room temperature.

My ice is freezing together and clumping.

If ice is not used regularly it tends to fuse together. Empty and replace the ice in the container as needed.

My ice tastes funny and is discolored.

Sub-Zero Built-In units do not have an integrated water filtration system. Contact a local plumber to discuss water filtration options. Also discard the first few batches of ice after initial startup as they may be discolored by new plumbing.
