Appliance: V-ZUG Combi-Steam Models: CSTXSL60F, CSTXSL60FY, CSSL, CSSL60c, CSSL60Y, CSTXSL60

What This Means

The display shows Boiler scaled up – Please descale! (older CSTXSL60) or Would you like to descale the appliance now? (newer models). Limescale has built up inside the steam boiler and must be removed to maintain performance and prevent damage.

Descaling interval depends on water hardness (at 4x30 min steam per week): Hard water ~5 months, Medium ~8 months, Soft ~12 months.

🔧 How to Fix

  1. Ensure the appliance is switched off and fully cooled down.
  2. Remove all accessories, cookware, and objects from the cooking space.
  3. Navigate to User Settings > Descale Appliance and select 'Yes' (or confirm the prompt).
  4. Pour 0.5 L of undiluted durgol swiss steamer descaler into the water tank and insert it.
  5. The descaling phase runs for about 30 minutes automatically.
  6. When prompted, remove the water tank, rinse it, fill with 1 L warm water, and re-insert for the rinsing phase.
  7. Repeat rinsing as prompted (optimal number of rinses run automatically).
  8. When complete, remove, empty, and dry the water tank.
  9. Wipe up any liquid on the cooking space floor with a soft cloth.
  10. Total process takes about 45 minutes. Do NOT open the door during descaling.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use a generic descaler or citric acid?

No. Only use durgol swiss steamer. Standard descaling solutions may contain foam-creating additives, be insufficiently effective, or in the worst case damage the appliance.

Can I cancel descaling once started?

No. For safety reasons, the descaling process cannot be cancelled once it has begun.

The water in the tank is cloudy after descaling - is this normal?

Yes. After descaling, the water pumped back into the tank during Steam, Hot Air, Hot Air Humid, or Hot Air+Steaming modes may be cloudy. This does not affect cooking quality.
